The Capitol Theatre, located in Clearwater, is one of the oldest operational theatres in the state of Florida. Established in 1921, the Capitol Theatre started out as a vaudeville theater and movie house. The city of Clearwater purchased the 92-year-old building in 2008 as part of an overall plan to rejuvenate the downtown area.
