Sunrise Musical Theatre

We are taking a look at the Sunrise Musical Theatre from 1992.

Sunrise Musical Theater was a performing arts center located in Sunrise, Florida. It opened in 1976 hosting concerts and processions. The seating capacity of the theater was 3,732. Notable past performers include Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Frank Zappa and Black Sabbath

In 1991, Cellar Door Productions was Owner and Operator they recognized the inadequacies of the old pipe grid above the stage. Mark Black was contracted to design and build a steel ribbon grid that would allow heavy touring shows to rigging capacity Several years before Mark’s addition, Billy Collins installed structure for hanging sound clusters. The Sunrise Musical Theatre continued to host shows up until the sale of the venue to Faith Center Ministries.

Their stage has hosted a number of fantastic stars over the decades including: The Monkees, Ringo Starr, Black Sheep, Santana, Jimmy Buffet, Kenny Rogers, Tom Jones, Beach Boys, Rush, Barry Manilow, Bob Dillan, Dave Mason, Rick Springfield, Heart, The kinks, and BTO.
